Something Really Old

This is the first new posting after switching to a new provider/server. We now have SSL. Isn’t that cool & modern. So just a quickie…

I thought I’d share a pic of a fossil Trilobite I’ve owned for a long time now—I picked it up at a dinosaur exhibit in Dudley, of all places, during the Jurassic Park craze in the summer of 1993. Happy 30th Anniversary, prehistoric bug.

Hard Luck City

Just slightly longer than a couple of days since my last posting, but hey, after leaving it for six months, this is quite punctual.

I’ve been busy since moving site to new server, tweaking and revising. Special emphasis on the Portfolio (go look)—the visual sections are now slideshows. And much more up-to-date. It’s easier to maintain & update for me, too. So I’m pretty happy about that.

Well, anyhow—one of the things I’ve been doing is working on a book! Those of you, if there are any, who’ve been visiting for aeons and have an obsessively long memory might recall me talking about Hard Luck City before. You can buy it NOW on Amazon UK and Amazon US.

Cheap & easy blog update posting thing… a few typos fixed…

The Internet is Fucked Up

Major annoyance of recent weeks: spammers using this domain as their return address, meaning I get all their bounces. It’s happening to quite a few people lately, apparently. I had it once before about a year ago, but on a much smaller scale (i.e. fewer bounces, for whatever reason).

I don’t know what the point of spam is. No one I know gives it the time of day. It’s a festering, parasitic nuisance and, I tend to think, a singularly ineffective method of advertising. More than anything else, you have to figure the people doing this are the saddest bastards on the planet—so much effort for shit that no one ever reads.

Loose Ends

Well, a goodly amount of boredom reigns supreme today and I’ve been installing some apps. Firstly I upgraded from the Windows Messenger (which I’ve almost never used) to the MSN thingy. Then I installed Skype. Paul was singing its praises some time ago, before I had Broadband, and I think he makes most of his landline calls on it. I don’t make many calls anyway, so I’m not gonna buy any credit for that just yet. I’m registered with the e-mail address in the header above on both, anyway, if that is of interest to anyone.

No Nude Celebs Here

Do you look at your server logs very often? Chances are, you get hits that claim the referring site was something like www.nudecelebblogs.com. I wonder why they bother? This is in no way inducing me to bother looking at their stupid sites… as promotional tactics go, it’s utterly pathetic.

Testing Testing…

If this works, it means the site is working again. Lack of postings hasn’t been a sign of apathy, as those who’ve noticed the problems with the comments will know. Just technical trouble.

Damn, and I had so many brilliantly witty and insightful things to say in the last week. Sadly, I’ve forgotten them all now. 🙂
