Hmmm… this seems to be one of those times (it happens once in a while) where I consider whether or not to ditch this blog.
There is the feedback/communication issue, natch. I don’t get anything back from it. I mean, if anyone gets something from this thing, I’d like to know what and why—I’m not an entertainer, after all. I’m not performing a public peep show, though sometimes it feels that way.
The bigger issue, though, is probably boredom. I don’t have many friends online and the Internet’s main use for me, I think, is as a source for news and information, plus online shopping when funds permit. No sense of ‘community’ or belonging here. Cold and distant. Meaningless. It’s really not much of a motivation. Hence, my dwindling activity.
Oh, I suppose there’s the ‘self-expression’ argument. But, really, if I strictly just wanted to keep a diary, it’s easier to do in Notepad or on paper! (And much more personal; there is a limit to what I’d allow my next-door neighbours conceivably to read, obviously.)
Actually, this posting’s starting to bore me too, so I’ll shut up! 🙂
Just wanted to say I still read your blog to catch up. I know I’m terrible at writing actual emails but it’s not a lack of consideration! I hope you keep it up as it is a good thing overall, I think, even just as a place to put down the loose change of your thoughts every now and then. All my best – G.
