So we’ve had a bit of radio silence over the holidays, pondering what comes next (and there was an abortive house move in there, too,… Read More »Happy New Year
Well, happy new year, while there’s still 20 minutes to say it in 2015. Which was a rubbish year. Will 2016 be any better? Fred isn’t convinced…
Thus ends another year!

Well, I’ve left the blog unattended for aeons again. Just wanted to sneak in before this year is over and done with.
Hasn’t been a very good year, apart from the Bowie stuff. Chaotic, frustrating, lacking in any of the progress or affirmation I’m looking for.
And then, on November 25th, the author Joel Lane, who’d become a very good friend of mine in recent times, passed away suddenly. His delayed funeral, which I attended, was on December 23rd.

The January 2012 Lodge meeting—Joel is at the back, partially obscured. The others are Steve Green, me and Theresa Derwin.

Quiet round here, innit? I was thinking about making my obligatory Christmas Humbug posting, but I can’t be bothered. Haven’t felt much like blogging since… Read More »Everything Under the Sun
I’m not sorry to see 2003 go. It was in some ways a significant year… we got the house move situation sorted out, finally, and I made the arguably foolish decision to kiss Der State Benefit System goodbye because I no longer felt my life was my own…

First entry of the year, eh? What took so long? Well, let’s see… I had this short but gruelling tour of book-signings to promote my latest best-seller, followed by a short break in Italy and a couple of extravagant shopping sprees. I’ve been a bit busy!
Hm. So I tried the interesting version. I don’t think anyone bought it, though. Oh well.

The end of the year. Thought I’d make a final entry, since I’m not particularly celebrating it… just coasting through it with mixed feelings and, I guess, a fairly relaxed mood.
New Year’s Eves past: I think of Dec 31st 1998, where it seemed I was in a pretty bad rut and unhappy with almost everything. As midnight struck, I leaned out of the open window of my bedroom and listened to all the parties going on, fireworks, etc., and said to myself, ‘This time next year, things will be quite different.’
