Weekend Roundup

So, should I officially make this a ‘one entry per weekend’ blog or what? Nah. Then I’d feel like writing stuff all the time and wouldn’t be able to stick to Der Rulez. Um, right.

I’ve been organising a bit. It’s amazing how you can live somewhere for nine months and still have a room that’s a stinking pit of disorder and clutter. That needed to change. I still have to get a couple of cheap, small bookcases and lots of stuff to fill the walls (I’m working on it), but generally things are much nicer now. The dog would now doubt attempt to sabotage my good work if he wasn’t on restricted access. 🙂

I’ve also tried to improve my career prospects a bit. I’m not willing to talk about that in detail until something firm develops—but progress on the journalism front could be on the horizon.

My Babies!

I guess I don’t pursue journalism as aggressively as I should. But at least I occasionally get good ideas; I sent a couple of moderately decent ideas to a certain film magazine a couple of months ago. Sadly, I heard nothing back.

Fit to Print

About writing: I’ve just completed a 1,000-word review of Mr. D. Boyle’s 28 Days Later, for the next issue of Van Helsing’s Journal (no URL, as far as I’m aware). I’m currently working on a slightly longer piece on The Wicker Man for the issue after that, and I’ve agreed to do something on Italian horror that I haven’t started yet. (VHJ covers non-American horror/fantasy genre films.)
