Another Year Ends

This entry will smack of tokenism, as it’ll likely be the last one of this year. Best wishes for the new one to those who care.

Since this has become more a book/film comment sort of blog lately (accident not design), I’ll mention a couple of purchases. I took advantage of WHSmith’s sale, picking up the videos of Jeepers Creepers and A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) for £4.49 each. A good deal for a couple of pretty successful 2001 films.

We just watched Jeepers Creepers. It was okay. It was no classic, though; I felt it wandered off from an initial premise that seemed potentially more promising and ‘real,’ but it is better than a lot of other modern horror movies.

Actually, the best thing I saw today was the new-ish (’97) Columbo movie on Five. But I’m a big fan, so I’m biased. I assume it’ll be five years before we see the current new ones over here…

Staying up ridiculously late last night, I somehow managed to do a bit of writing. More work on my infamous novel, which no one will ever see. (Assuming it ever gets finished.) I’ve been working on it in a fragmented way, out of sequence. So it was nice to finally have a complete first draft of chapter one, coming in at around 3,800 words. I wish I was more inspired, though.

Anyway: So long, 2002…
