Local Culture

Went to Merryhill today, as I hadn’t been for a few months. This requires me to get a bus into Dudley first, as no nearby buses go straight to Merryhill itself. So, what the hell, I thought this snap of a major ‘landmark’ at the back of Dudley’s small shopping plaza, facing the bus station, might interest those who’ve never been:

Local Culture

It’s a rather crudely rendered carving reflecting the town’s industrial background. I think. It’s been there quite a while. It is, literally, the most interesting spectacle Dudley has to offer, with the arguable exception of the potent zoo/castle combo. I don’t think they get many tourists up this way. How odd!

“I’ve been to paradise… but I’ve never been to Dudleyyyyy” (famous 70’s song), actually it was originally about Cunsey in the Lake District, err, I think…
