I’m still not in the greatest of moods. This ‘government scheme’ business is a big factor (hey, our government does nothing but scheme!). On balance, since the house move is so near now, I think I’m inclined to just opt out of the system. £50-odd a week isn’t nearly enough to justify the degree of control they can exert upon me.
So, I’m available for work! Presently, I’m collecting together a few decent writing samples and making a Web site for offering Web design services. I can write. I can do Web pages. Someone out there must have a use for me.
Now, about this Web site… considering the poor degree of link exposure I have, the traffic’s not so bad. But, you know, I’ve worked pretty hard on this site—I reckon it’s one of the better-designed blogs out there, and while some of the content might be considered boring, the same goes for every single blog I’ve ever read. This blog’s as good as anyone else’s, dammit.
It’s all about exposure. Blog directories notwithstanding, I have about three links, and one of them’s out-of-date. I’d like to see more traffic, because it means potentially more interaction and generally more reward for the unreasonable amount of time I’ve spent fiddling with this thing. After all, this is the site where I made all my mistakes and learned the hard way, so it means something to me.
Do you read this site regularly? Do you have a blog? Then why don’t we trade links? Unless you’re a racist, bigot or pornographer, I’ll link to you with pleasure. Much of my blogroll consists of sites that already have a thousand other links out there. I’d rather support sites that support me, quite honestly.
I’ve recently added a FOAF file. This idea’s been around for a while now, and I’m not convinced it’s all that useful. Yet. It’s still being discussed quite a lot, like here, for example. Anyway, you can cite other people in the file, but hell if I could think of anyone. If you have one and would like to cite me, let me know and I’ll return the favour.
Hi Chrissie, I’m just around the corner from you (according to GeoURL) in Smethwick. Having spent the last few years exchanging links with people half way around the world I thought it was about time to exchange links with someone a bit more local! It’s good to find another Oldbury/Smethwick blogger. There must be more than 2 of us.
I’ll add you to my blogroll:

My main weblog home page is mostly about educational technology, one of my main professional interests but I also have an m-blog where I post pictures and text from my mobile phone on less serious topics.
Cheers,
David.
Link back added. Thanks.
I’m nearer to Oldbury than Smethwick. I don’t think there’s much of a local ‘blogging community,’ really… there is an alleged local monthly blog meet, which seems to get cancelled quite a lot, presumably due to no one turning up.
I saw that meetup.com site but also noticed nobody ever seemed to meet up! Maybe we should…
