Today is a nice day. I’m not a big weather fan, but today it’s sunny without being dazzling and fairly warm without being unpleasantly hot. (If blinding sun and blistering heat is your thing, you may not agree with me.)
I had a brief errand to do this morning, and instead of my usual approach—to rush to my destination as fast as possible and hurry back—I took a longer route through our nearby park, pulled off my jacket and wandered around dreamily for a while. It was really nice. I didn’t even fret about skin cancer! (I’m very pale and get little sunlight…) There were a few people about, but the place seemed so peaceful and relaxing. I’ve forgotten what relaxing is in recent times, i.e. probably the last 20 years! Must do this again sometime; since our dog got ill (and later died), going through places like parks just hasn’t crossed my mind.
I also went into town briefly, for no particular reason. I looked in WHSmith’s and noticed they had the new Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets videos and DVDs crammed everywhere. The video was only £9.99, and I was sorely tempted, as I never got round to seeing it in the cinema. But common sense and being short on cash won out in the end. It can wait a while. All the WHS staff, incidentally, were decked out in Harry Potter T-shirts and witch hats—some of them looked less than comfortable with it. Hope they get a bonus for the public humiliation. 🙂
YAY Christine for going outside for fun! ‘Chamber of Secrets’ was better than ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, so you really should at least rent it soon.
Mom has more money than we thought, actually, so my errand tomorrow is to go into town and buy the vid!
I might go out for fun more often. Maybe even that ‘hot date’ that never seems to happen.
