Club Comicana @20

Following the previous post on the 20th anniversary of Club Comicana / Vamporama

Well, I did finish Club Vamporama as a concept in 2021, by sending our heroes back to 1982. That is some 21 years before the eponymous “club” (owned by Bette Noir) even existed! But…

Club Comicana @20

That doesn’t mean Club Comicana (ie. the original title!) is over.

Let me know what you think, etc!

  1. My older sister’s girlfriends were all huge Leslie Gore fans, as well as loving Girl groups like the Shangri-La’s.

  2. Good to have Club Comicana crew back, and back in time too to the Eighties. Gore for me too, a fave from my chidlhood, her first single and produced by the quintissential Quincy Jones no less.

  3. Nice to see Jenni and Marie stayed in the far more pleasant past. If I knew how, I’d join them without hesitation.

  4. I think it came out very well. I like all of the girls’ expressions, but especially Jenni’s in panels 4 and 6.

    1. Although strong(ish) cider remains relatively cheap — around £3 for a 2L bottle of 5%, maybe £4.50+ for 7% — the price for strong lager has rocketed to £2-£2.50+ per half-litre, whilst at the same time the strength has dropped from 9.5%+ to around 8%. This is from a cursory glance at an English supermarket shelf, safely distant from the authoritarian 50p/alcohol unit enforced in Wales and Scotland which takes that same bottle of cider from £3 to £5. Odd how self-styled liberal administrations are so illiberal when it comes to telling people how to live their lives.

  5. So, a musical fandom dispute brings out Marie’s inner Blastaar (and Krackle)?

Heh heh. It feels as if you know these characters well.

Incidentally, your reference to the Gaskin/Stewart cover led me on quite a chase! I had no idea. And to realize their Canterbury prog connections! Good grief.
