So I am looking around for a new place. Went to see my friend Michael in Camden today and browse what was on offer there. No much of any use, as it happens, but we had a nice meal anyway!
I am (fingers crossed) viewing a place on Wednesday night in the Brockley/Lewisham area. Prolly not as funky as Fulham, but close to the city (only about 20 mins from Charing Cross), and it’s obviously the living situation itself that is most important. This one sounds a lot better, but I don’t wanna say too much for now.
I’ve been in a sort-of relationship for some months with someone now, and last night he suggested making it official. He was a little drunk so I said, ‘Hey, maybe tomorrow you’ll not say this.’ But no change so far! I guess that means it is official. It’s a nice feeling. The situation started to develop just before leaving London for my disastrous spell in Brighton, which did compound the error big-time. As much as it turns out that the current living situation sucks, I’m glad to be back in London.
I’m starting to know big chunks of London like the back of my hand. There was a lot of Tube disruption today (Industrial Action, *yawn*), and this forced me to show some initiative with getting to Camden… and even more getting back, as the Picadilly Line started to join various other lines in dysfunction as the night progressed. Anyway, I figured out the bus routes without too much trouble. The Tube itself is starting to make sense to me as well. I almost feel like I’m negotiating the complex London transport system like an old hand.
In Search of Steve Ditko, the Jonathan Ross show I worked on, will be on BBC4 very soon. Be sure to watch it. It’s very good. And my name’s on screen at the end. Allow me another momentary ego-trip, okay? This time next year, it might be ‘just another credit’. (One can wish…)
I will have some news on here soon about a comic book exhibition I’m involved with. It’s actually been delayed slightly, but ought to be up next week. More later.
Oh, I did a little bit of drawing yesterday. I hadn’t done much for ages (again), so I suddenly felt the urge to get my hand moving across paper. Came out all right, I think.
Hi Chrissie
If you’re thinking of moving to Brockley I write a blog about the local area that you might find useful: http://brockleycentral.blogspot.com
Best wishes
Nick
On the contrary Chrissie, Brockley is about 10 times funkier than Fulham! – but it’s not immediately obvious to everyone. There are no trendy wine bars or cinema multiplexes, but you get independent stuff instead, with real people, and it’s this community feel that makes it a cool place to live. As you say, it’s not far from town, and the prices are ‘affordable’. If you need any advice on areas, drop me an email.
Gosh, I hope I don’t get lost when I come to visit ! Great to read things are on the up.
I’ve been back at the drawing board too. Dealing with some very personal stuff, unheadfucking – it fits in with the panels I were working on when you put me up in Brum, though more coherent.
I did try to watch the Ditko show. I got as far as the bit where Ross said he was going to Northampton to see Alan Moore. Then I decided to watch something else.
How has the Ditko show been received, Chrissie? Saw some discussion at http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055149828, which may have wandered a little off-topic, I don’t know. Don’t have BBC4 myself but hopefully it will end up on 2 sooner rather than later. (Ha! I bet you’re still buzzing!)
Did you hear Paul on Radio4 this morning? Be on ‘listen again’ if you didn’t.
Sorry won’t catch the BBC4 thing. Can’t get the digi TV.
Hope all is fine and dandy m’dear.
