It was nice to get down to London and catch up with Paul again, but there’s always a reluctance to come home! Let’s face it, this is a pretty dismal area. Birmingham, the city, is okay enough, but the rest? Pah!
Paul and I went into the British Museum for a while and looked at a lot of old Egyptian thingies. He tried to take a couple of snaps, but neither came out very well. The last time I went in the place was a school trip back in 1981; it brought back a lot of memories, even though it’s changed a lot since then. The main memory, alas, is of me dying of thirst and not being allowed to go to the canteen for a drink until we’d looked at everything we were supposed to see. School trips simply aren’t designed to be enjoyed.

Horrible, weird, blurry pic in the British Museum. Better luck next time, Paul!
We also went in a few old bookshops wherein I failed to find anything I was looking for. I did get a very cheap hardcover of one of the few Stephen King books I don’t own, though (The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon). Not a big spending day in that respect, but…
I got the Silverlink train into London, and I managed to miss the last one back, at the unreasonably early time of 7:54pm. This meant buying a one-way Virgin ticket for the equally unreasonable price of £35. Ouch.
At least, for once, they were running on time…
The rest of this week, I’ve felt kind of tired. My sleep patterns have been more screwed up than ever lately, though I’ve made some improvements in the last few days—which is the main reason I’m tired, since it has involved losing some sleep. I will understand the concept of discipline one of these days.
glad you had fun Chrissie, but I’m sure you could’ve got back from Londinium for less (I’m a frequent flyer y’know) but I guess that news will make you feel worse, lol. Hush my mouth!
Take care,
2004 snogs
