The Camera Never Lies

I have some comments on the Bowie album, but they’ll wait.

I finally got a digicam today. With a timer. This enables me to jump in front of it and take shots like this:

The Camera Never Lies

Sadly, all this photo proves is that (a) I need a nose job and (b) I need a haircut. I am, fortunately, getting the latter on Thursday. Anyway, hopefully I’ll get some interesting snaps when I’m down in London on Friday… perhaps we might pass David Blaine, and I can get some shots of people chucking eggs at him. Actually, this blog might be more interesting if I put loads of pics on it!

Might write more on the house move ‘fun’ later.

  1. I was down in London on Tuesday and went to see Blaine out of curiosity. There were hundreds of people there, many more than I thought would be there. It’s a very surreal experience. It’s a totally pointless gesture and possibly even insulting to the millions of people who die through starvation without the TV franchise deal. But in a way i was pleased I went to see it for myself rather than just rely on the media’s portrayal. If you go let us know what you think. I took some photos and wrote a short piece on my weblog.

  2. And I like the new Bowie album. The first track is the best for me after a few listens to the whole CD. Others are very likely to grow on me.

Am I the only person who really liked Earthling? I thought it was a terrific album.

  3. I haven’t heard Earthling, to be honest. I really like the new one now I’ve heard it, though. Better than Heathen by quite a distance, really.

Whether or not I see Blaine depends on where he is in relation to Euston and the NFT and how much travel time I have around seeing the film. My London geography stinks, I’m afraid, but Paul is a Londoner, so he’ll figure all that out.

My nose looks even worse from the side. I walked into a lamppost 14 years ago and got myself a fracture and some scarring (three stitches). I probably could have had the resulting bump fixed on the NHS at the time, but nan had just died and I had other things on my mind. Oh well…

  4. I like Heathen too but my view of all Bowie’s recent albums is that there are some outstanding songs on each but otherwise patchy, that includes the new one. Earthling is an exception IMHO but I know most Bowie fans don’t like that album. See what you think.

From Euston take Northern line platform 6 to London Bridge (12 mins) then walk to Tower Bridge (5-10 mins). He’s on this side of the river, can’t miss him, he’s up in a box with 500 people watching 😉

Slightly odd noses have character 🙂
