Well, yes, we might have a new home! The flat’s location is okay. In fact, in terms of public transport, it’s excellent. The estate is a bit, uh, mediocre. The flat itself is just average, and needs to be completely redecorated. But it could be a lot worse.
It was brand new on the market, so we were the first to view it. Mom decided to say we were interested. We got a call late this afternoon from the estate agents to tell us the seller was agreeable, so it’s ours if we want it.
As always, for me, mixed feelings. Somewhere just a wee bit nicer would make me feel better, really. But, the truth is, nothing else vaguely acceptable and within our budget might turn up for another six months. Our financial situation is bad. The car’s MOT and tax is up early next week, and we can’t afford to renew it, so until we move and have more spare cash, the car’s out of action.
We’re living beyond our means while we’re stuck here. Moving is imperative. I don’t think we can afford to turn this place down. Of course, being pragmatic won’t stop me feeling just a little bit depressed. I’m not deliriously happy about it, but the pressure it will remove from our lives will, at least, be a huge relief.
Blog stuff: I’ve fixed a few more things. I never stop fiddling. Firstly, I added my ‘official’ logo to the Comments and TrackBack popups. More importantly… have you ever noticed how most popups just appear at random locations on the screen (sometimes even close to the bottom, forcing you to drag them up to see what’s on them)? Really annoying, isn’t it? And it’s easy to fix—I’ve played with popups a bit in the past, so I already knew how. I just hadn’t got round to it. Anyway, it’s sorted now; they appear at a fixed screen location.
Finally, I added a complete list of archived postings by category. This was partly for my own reference, but it might interest someone else out there…
