No vote from me. Nope.
The Internet is nothing if not supremely obnoxious in its overflow of putrid effluvia focused on the whole EU Referendum bollocks. From both sides, arguing like the rival gangs of monkeys they are, flinging shit at each other and feeling all self-righteous and meaningful. I’ve seen more profound rows going on in a fucking schoolyard. What a miserable, ugly spectacle it truly is.
(And then, apparently without irony, she added to said overflow…)
Some of the insults hurled from Remain at the Leave side have been particularly troublesome to me. To support Leave is to be a racist, for instance—basically, every single transgression these days is some kind of bigotry. Including just having an opinion in some/many cases. The arguably worst insult is that BREXIT equals being a Right Winger—#ToryScum, as some utter arseholes on Twitter put it. Well… as it happens, one of my all-times heroes—Mr Tony Benn—was very much against the EU. The Millennial Fuckwits making these comments are basically calling Tony Benn #ToryScum, as well as (probably) a racist. For that alone, I wish them a special place in Hell. (I’m not religious, but I wish them that anyway. Whatever it might entail.)
The fact that the biggest #ToryScum you can imagine—David Cameron and George Osborne—spearheaded the Remain campaign is apparently a trivial little detail…
Now then. I didn’t vote because, as my mini-bio on here currently says, I’m an anarchist. NO, that doesn’t mean I want riots, raping and pillaging on the streets as everything descends into utter chaos. That’s the mainstream/establishment cliche of anarchism designed specifically to permanently turn the masses away from the idea. The Wiki article has a basically reasonable summary.
I don’t believe in the system. I think it is permanently broken—beyond repair—and utterly corrupt—beyond redemption—and that something completely new is in order. That’s what being an anarchist involves. And unfortunately, Nigel Farage, of all people (and let’s be clear: I do not support UKIP in any shape or form), was substantially correct in saying that the BREXIT/Leave victory was the people voting against big business, big corporations and big government. This was not necessarily a well-placed or meaningful vote, mind you, but I agree that those things are at the heart of it. By the same token, the Remain voters are, I think for the most part unwittingly, voting FOR those things.
Make no mistake, the EU is all about big business, big corporations and big government. Those big, stinking corporate monsters just love the idea of having only one set of strings to pull. And it doesn’t end there; with TPP, TTIP (read about it here) and all these other converging agreements in the pipeline, our Shadow Masters will be putting the squeeze on us more and more if we allow them to.
The BREXIT vote does put a spoke in the wheels of TTIP. That’s something. That’s a plus unless you believe in corporate dominance because it mainlines you with the vacuous sludge you’re hopelessly addicted to.
But no, I won’t vote FOR this system. Period. I believe in the devolving of government entirely—with the emphasis on local council, the engagement and active involvement of the people as a local community, etc. Government has grown TOO BIG. They have TOO MUCH CONTROL. They think THEY OWN US. I voiced some anger about the mandating of dog microchipping recently. This is all the same argument and issue. If government isn’t stopped, we will have no freedom or future worth speaking about.
Sadly, the Millennials, for the most part, are in a whirl of panic and whinging about BREXIT. They’re scared their privileged, pampered, fashionable, neo-liberal bourgeoisie lifestyles might take a tiny little hit as a result. Well, FUCK YOU, you stinking, selfish brats—your shitty future of microchips, wall-to-wall surveillance, corporate technocracy and utter, hyper-fascistic homogeneity is nothing any actual human being would want…
In short: Remain is supporting the establishment 100% and therefore only viable if you think Daddy Knows Best; but Leave isn’t the answer because it gives the establishment a quick kick in the balls but basically changes nothing. The answer, folks, is bringing this whole system down. Before it’s too late.
I can’t deny I’m fearful and pessimistic about this, given how weak, hypnotised and dependant the youth of today are… by design, please note…
Thanks, Chrissie. A column in one of the papers here pointed out the hypocrisy of Canadians questioning the wisdom of a Leave vote when Canada would never vote to join the US even though we have a common language.
I’ve long considered myself an anarchist too, but it seems disingenuous to deny the impact on the referendum of the immigration issue, which is, for many, a racist issue. I was talking to someone yesterday, who assured me that he wasn’t a racist, but that Romanians and Albanians were all thieves. There’s a report of a racist incident against a Pakistani woman, where a man said to her, “why are you still here? We’ve just voted for you to leave” (or words to that effect). Money and politics aside, I’d rather be considered European than English when that appears to mean returning to the imperialism of the past
Well, obviously some people who voted leave would be racists. I’m confident a percentage of the remainers were too. Racists are everywhere; an unfortunate fact of life the PC amongst us mistakenly think can be erased by censorious measures. My problem is with the implication that Leave = Racist. See my point about Tony Benn. That position is extremely black & white and simplistic—and insults an awful lot of people.
Racial incidents being reported by mainstream news get questioning glares from me, too. This stuff happens, but often it appears to happen with clockwork perfect timing. What you see on the TV is 100% establishment-approved stuff. Lest we forget, former BBC employee George Orwell used that questionable organisation (which to this day seeks to impose a lawless tax upon the people, even for using completely unaffiliated services) as the basis for his Ministry of Truth…
As to the European issue: of course. We didn’t leave Europe, as many people incorrectly keep saying. We left that corporate controlled, artifical construct called the EU. So, money and politics aside, I completely agree.
I would add: I half-expect major racial tensions to flare up on the back of this. But essentially I’d be suspicious that they’d been provoked or engineered somehow, just as—it seems clear to me—terrorist activity is being provoked & engineered… the desired end result being less freedom for the sake of our protection. I’m not big on conspiracy shit, but this seems increasingly blatant to me.
