My knowledge of Chaney JR is limited but as a child of the early 70s the great Monster mags of the time were a permanent fixture.
I once showed my partner the cover to a Quasimodo Monster mag that I used to own(typical exploitive cover of a scantly clad women)
She asked me how old I was when I first bought it
“oh…about 9 ”
