Well, I guess Christmas is almost over for another year. The Day Itself is done with. It seems like our television schedulers have given up any pretence of making any real effort this year… I wonder if that reflects an overall feeling of growing apathy?
Christmas day was just like a weekend day, really. Only with decorations and turkey. We ended up watching My Fair Lady in the afternoon, which I hadn’t seen for years. I’m not a musical fan, but this one’s a sentimental favourite for unknown reasons. I like it. Rex Harrison was great.
Of the night, well, it was the soaps, wasn’t it? I enjoyed EastEnders, anyway, although I found Phil’s departure unsatisfying… they’ve made him such a complete arsehole in recent times that I wanted to see him thoroughly defeated, but he actually kind of won in a weird way. Or so it seems. A happy ending for once, though!
Oh, and the ‘new’ Only Fools and Horses, which is actually nearly two years old (in spite of the fake 2003 date put at the end) and didn’t feel new at all. Probably the last one, which might be just as well. It was funny, but a little tired, and David Jason looks too old, inked-in hair or not.
We finished the evening watching the DVD of the Ocean’s Eleven remake. Which I expected to suck, but it didn’t.
Now I guess I can go back to pondering ways in which I can earn money. But maybe I’d better not get into that on here. Still drawing a blank, obviously…
