You Never Call Anymore

Just had to say that Phone Booth is a fabulous film (we saw it Thursday night). Not holding a grudge against Joel Schumacher for the abomination of the last two Batman films, I was really impressed.

Colin Farrell, as a person, appears to be an intolerable poseur intent on mythologising a wild youth that never happened. But he can act incredibly well, so I forgive him. The show really belongs to Kiefer Sutherland (‘the caller’), though. I’m glad someone noticed he has a great voice. To dominate a film with your voice alone, it’s gotta be great. This film tries something unusual and makes it work, and with a running time of less than 90 minutes, it doesn’t drag things out needlessly. Top marks.
