At a certain point in a person’s life, it seems, their hair sometimes turns to shit. When you were 18, your hair was shiny and lustrous: what went wrong? (If your answer is, ‘It fell out!’, we’re talking at cross purposes.)
My hair used to be very greasy in my 20s, but it got better. Alas, in the last couple of years, it’s gone down the greasy track again. I know it’s not just me—I was talking to someone who’s had the same thing a while back, and her conclusion was, it’s a result of getting older. I’m not inspired by this theory.
Having had much the same hairstyle at various lengths and sundry colourings for five years, I’m feeling inclined to change it. I had it shorter last October, which didn’t make much difference; then I had a few highlights, and a slight fringe that simply didn’t work (so I ended up combing it out), in December. Desperation to inject life into this lethagic mess is now leading me to trying a much fuller fringe and a lot more highlights. We’ll see what happens.
(I guess if I had a skinhead, the greasiness problem would be solved…)
Anyway, maybe next time I’ll talk about fashion, just to further alienate the people who love my government bashing and ramblings about old films! 🙂
My wife now believes *all* of our hair looking like crap is a function of the hardness of the local water. Coincidentally there’s a shampoo (expensive and she’d just bought some) that addresses that very issue. The jury’s still out as to whether it makes a difference.
These shampoos never make a difference. Sad but true. My hairdresser has drummed into me the concept of using shampoo and conditioner (in separate bottles, mind you, not the two-in-one efforts)… the difference to my hair? ZILCH!
