I have been thinking about, and assessing, the content on this blog, as part of a general overhaul of the Website (the various sections will be upgraded somewhat soon; right now it’s just the thinking stage). The blog has been running since December 2000, believe it or not, although the first ten years of content has been offline for a while… for now, I’ve decided to remove all the archives before 2020, and even then I’ve deleted a number of short or disposable postings from the last three years that just weren’t very interesting. (Like this posting, probably!)
I’d just like to refocus my efforts on making longer and better quality postings, I think, such as reviews and the like. The “viewing” postings are fine; the artwork postings are OK when it’s good quality work. And so on.
Do have a few postings coming, including a vintage comics review and some photos from our recent holiday in Wales, plus a few recent bits of art I’m quite happy with.
Interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts on this—what kind of content you think works best, etc. IS ANYONE OUT THERE?! 🙂
Hi Chrissie,
I personally enjoy variety of posts, although long reviews on either comics, movies or TV shows are appreciated. And, of course, I love seeing your artwork.
Nick
I think it depends on who you’re trying to reach. Personal posts are only likely to be of interest to friends unless there’s something specific in them (e.g. that appeals to people who want to see pictures of Wales or hear about whether a place in Wales is worth visiting). A themed blog should appeal to anyone interested in the subject matter and could still have a broad remit. A specialist blog will appeal to other specialists (though, from experience, it doesn’t guarantee interaction)
I’m certainly looking forward to your overview of tv and movie consumption for the second quarter of 2023: quite a bit of David Janssen, Telly Savales and Raymond Chandler to chew over. Longer reviews are also welcome, especially of less well-known material (such as Tower Comics).
I’m in the privileged position of having already seen your recent illustrative work, so know your regulars are in for a treat. Maybe more ‘work in progress’ posts, showing how particular pieces come together?
