Quick commentary…
We finally finished the last season of Bilko! It had been almost done for ages. Honestly, what a great show, but the last season was running out of steam quite badly, so for every great episode there was a pretty lame one. It happens. This season had way too many eps where the great Paul Ford was absent. Ford makes every episode he’s in just a little bit better. Or a lot better.
After making a start on The Fugitive, Nick’s comment inspired Steve to grab the Invaders set. So there’s been plenty of Quinn Martin fun lately. (What next? Cannon?!) Anyhow, big fan of both shows, but maybe David Janssen’s unique intensity as Richard Kimble (backed by Barry Morse’s excellently played obsessive cop, Gerard, pursuing him relentlessly) has the edge.
Let’s cut this short and get to quarter 1 of ’23 in a day or two…
Chrissie,
I’d certainly put The Fugitive in a slightly higher category than The Invaders, but I’m down to the last episodes of the series and see a progression story-wise that could have built-up into a definitive ending, which would have been rewarding. On an unrelated note I discovered Creature Features on You Tube, which has a cast of offbeat characters introducing horror films which you might enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuaJgoldBeU&t=407s
According to Roy Thinnes (interviewed in 1995, when Scott Bakula was brought in for a two-part pilot to relaunch The Invaders), a third season was planned, but all of Quinn Martin’s projects were suddenly cancelled. Studio politics, Thinnes reckoned.
