I might not have been posting, but somehow, the temptation to fiddle around with the site has persisted. I don’t think I’ll ever be as happy with the design of this thing as with other, less personal ones I’ve done.
I’ve removed the short-lived dropdown menus, anyway. I don’t know how to make them validate as XHTML strict, and while I’m using ‘transitional’ right now, I want to feel able to switch if it suddenly seems like a good idea.
I need a new photo, too. The current one is kind of crap, but it’s the most recent I have (last January). I think I’ll wait until I get a haircut, which ought to be soon, because I have a feeling the Ozzy Osbourne style isn’t all that flattering…
I guess the move’s pretty close now. Mostly I hope the wretched heatwave doesn’t spring back up while it’s happening. The hottest UK Summer ever was just what I needed.
I’m re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at the moment. I needed to refresh my memory for when I can actually afford the new one, and besides, it is really good. I speak as someone who rather wanted to hate the books due to their ridiculous popularity, but for once, the public got it right.
I’m in a slightly better mood. Maybe I’ll be back soon. (It’s a surprise I haven’t ranted much about our odious, murderous government lately, isn’t it? Maybe I will!)
Nice to see you back! Hope you weren’t disillusioned by the stories of blogs losing their appeal, eg

Maybe a bit of flash mobbing will cheer things up, I found a brummie group too! Good luck with the move, never stop ranting!
I’m considering reading one of these myself, for discussion purposes. _Chamber of Secrets_ was recommended. Do they need to be read in order?
Mike
Probably. It is a series, in essence. The first one is the shortest anyway, so if you think it’s crap, less time wasted.
