Like the new logo? I’m still working on the site here and there. I haven’t used graphical logos for some time, because some browsers (IE 5 & 6, at least) have issues with locally cached copies of transparent gifs. I wanted to use a jpeg instead. Hey, they look better, anyway.
What I didn’t know, until a few days ago, is that you can convert HTML colour codes into RGB ones using Windows Calculator (scientific mode), meaning you can enter the exact RGB codes into just about any decent paint prog and have a perfect match with your background, or any other colours coded into your site. No need for transparency! (Unless you’re using a textured background, anyway.)
I’ve also renamed the index file index.php, which will make no difference to your links or bookmarks whatsoever. But it does enable me to have my reading list and blogroll as an external file (using PHP include), meaning I can modify it without going into MT’s interface and fiddling with the templates. Incredibly simple and very cool.
Look, I’m new to a lot of this stuff! It’s a learning curve!
Looks terrific! I hope you’re enjoying the research, because I’ve been learning from your experience. Someday I hope to have the opportunity to put it to use again, but for the moment my son’s working on a website, and he and I are (slowly) working our way through the great O’Reilly book _Head First Java_.
Thanks to the intensity of work lately, I have some catching-up to do; looks like it’s been an eventful few weeks. 🙂

*sigh* It wasn’t looking that wonderful after all! I just realised that one recent change I made—making the outer margin a bit thicker—meant the logo no longer fit on the comments popups properly. It does now. Solve one problem, another jumps right up at ya…
Where’s the fun in perfection? (Or do I mean challenge?)
Well, maybe not.
Oh, and if the site title went a bit… odd… while you were looking around, that’s because I decided to link the index template to an external file and I was checking that ‘rebuild’ was seeing the changes I made to it. (All I could think of was a silly title change.) Theoretically, this will be less trouble for me…
