Grimwood Screentest

Yesterday, at the Victoria, Birmingham, we held a screentest for our series concept Grimwood, which spins off some of the characters & ideas from our 2017 short All Bad Things. The participants were Liam Woon and Kelley Costigan. Here’s some images!!

The Forbidden Lady

Delighted to be able to announce that this documentary feature, of Steve Green interviewing cult actress Dagmar Lassander at the 2016 Festival of Fantastic Films, which I did the video editing for, will be on Arrow Video‘s forthcoming January Blu-ray release of Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion.

Monsters Colour Grading Tests

So… I’ve been playing with the footage for Monsters, and I’ve done some tests on the colour grading. The raw footage has a very flat colour profile, which allows filmmakers to push the images to suit the mood or preference more comfortably. Below are two graded frame grabs and finally a look at the raw (unmatted) footage for comparison.

(A trailer for the film is coming very soon!!)

Monsters Shoot

Principal photograph for Monsters was completed last night (Sunday)! In a very cold warehouse in deepest Coventry, the six-hour shoot went really well… a couple of annoying technical problems were surmounted without any great drama. (Okay, maybe some drama!!)

Huge thanks to Liam Woon for his brilliant performance and going above & beyond to help us ensure it all worked out! More soon!! But in the meanwhile, as ever, here are some photos for you to peruse…

Monsters Rehearsal

Yesterday, we had our rehearsal for the aforementioned Monsters short, with Liam Woon playing the role of “The Man”. The final run-through was filmed and I played around with the image & sound a little bit—a YouTube link to that will follow. The shooting proper will take place later this month. Meanwhile, here’s a couple of pics, plus a shot of Liam with Steve…

Terror At Bell’s End News

And yep, see the Bell’s End tag for more! This is our faux grindhouse trailer, homaging Euro Cult and the likes of Lucio Fulci. Of course, if any backers or companies showed an interest, we’d definitely be up for making a full movie!!

Anyhow, it’s been on the shelf for months and months, and we still need to shoot a couple of extra scenes. We’re working on it. It’s back on the schedule after the hiatus. More news soon.

Meanwhile, here’s a couple of frame grabs; firstly, from a titles sequence I’ve recently been playing with… secondly, good old Melyza Fay being stalked by THE KILLER

Club Vamporama News

You can follow the Club Vamporama tag for more on this project. The newest news is that we’re planning a crowdfunder for a full, 30-minute pilot episode. Liz wrote the script ages ago, and completed a new draft of it quite recently; most of the main cast are in place, all being well; currently, the theme song is being worked on… we’re looking to recruit a couple of ‘name value’ cast members and get things on track very, very soon.

Grindhouse Planet Film Festival Screening

Yesterday (Nov 27), All Bad Things was screened at the 2017 Grindhouse Planet Film Festival, in Leicester. This was the first public screening following the cast & crew screening last month. So let’s have a couple of photos…

This one was taken during the actual screening.

All Bad Things: Cast & Crew Screening

Incidentally, today is my birthday. Don’t ask.

Last night, we had our cast & crew screening for All Bad Things, plus the two Club Vamporama shorts “Who Is Bette Noir?” and “Hail Cthulhu!”, plus we screened some early footage for the Terror at Bell’s End trailer.

We drafted in our good friend & talented author/performer, Jasper Bark, to MC the proceedings, which was held at the Victoria, Birmingham city centre. I think overall the night went very well and we had most of the cast & crew from our various projects there (although we dearly missed Dru and Lizzie, who couldn’t make it).

The evening kicked off with the superb local actor, William Hayes (with whom we are planning to work very soon), giving a stirring rendition of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”.

ABT Screening 1

After the screening of “Who Is Bette Noir?”, Jasper interviewed Jude herself, Melyza Fay.

ABT Screening 2

Following the main event, All Bad Things, Jasper quizzed the main cast—Demelza O’Sullivan, Liam Woon and Sham Zaman.

ABT Screening 3

To complete the evening, Jasper himself performed his infamous short story, “Taking the Piss”!
