Well, seeing as how a rather diminutive version of the Great One has appeared in some of my art (such as the previous post!)—I thought I ought to try and do a pic of Cthulhu where he looks a bit more awesome… a bit more like he might just be standing 200 feet high!
So, I’m posting the finished drawing followed by the original sketch… because while the finished piece may be a little more polished, somehow the sketch has more energy, so they’re both kinda interesting, no?
Mixed feelings aside, that is—one person, seeing a preview of this a while ago, said that the big guy was reminding him somewhat of John Pienaar! THANK YOU! I can’t see anything else now. What the hey.
P.S. I’ve recently been working on a short strip called “Old Skool Hulk”—what it says on the tin, and I’m also planning a pinup with Old Skool Hulk fighting… HELLBOY. Later!
Well, in theory, if Halloween Comix ever happens! This is the reprise I mentioned here. I haven’t done any tones or colour yet, but, compare away! I probably will colour it, but I don’t think I shall bother with tones; it was something I was experimenting with fleetingly back in 2016 (a kind of electronic version of the old Duo-Shade paper they no longer make)—and I think it also masked some of the finishing deficiencies, which hopefully are rectified in this new version.
Just messing around with the old Lovecraftian creature traits in mixed media.
The official Club Vamporama Website is now live. Go see! Share! Thank you!!
CLUB VAMPORAMA ON THE WEB!
Another taster of our first short Club Vamporama film, “Who Is Bette Noir?”
A couple of still frames from the last Vamporama shoot (detailed here). Dru Stephenson as Jenni; Elizabeth Hastings as Marie.
An adaption of the image posted here.
As promised yesterday, here’s the other four storyboards for the Club Vamporama title sequence!
I drew six storyboards for the title sequence for Club Vamporama, which we filmed yesterday. Here’s the first two; the other four will be posted tomorrow!
Firstly, apologies for radio silence. Secondly, All Bad Things news: the shoot will now take place on August 20th. A couple of people dropped out at last minute and we’re currently looking for someone to handle the sound tech. More VERY soon!
Anyhow. Yesterday was the fourth shoot for Club Vamporama, this time uniting Dru and Lizzie (for the first time, as they appear to just miss each other in previous item, even though their scenes were shot five weeks apart!) for a scene set indoors—the so-called “Cthulhu Sketch”, which we previously did an abortive screen test on some months ago—plus a title sequence shot outdoors (storyboards for which I shall be posting tonight or tomorrow).
So, here are a couple of promo shots of Jenni (Dru) and Marie (Lizzie)! Photography by me. More on this very soon too…
Follow-up to this posting. Here’s the inked, toned & coloured cover artwork for the in-progress first PRINT issue of Club Vamporama.
Yep, here’s the inked & toned cover artwork for the in-progress first PRINT issue of Club Vamporama. The finished cover will be full colour… this is all you get for now! 🙂
New comics! As some of you know, I stopped doing comics after February 2013. During the hiatus I did some other things, including a few T-shirt designs. Anyhow, the strip pitch idea I mentioned recently was the first comics I’d done since Feb ’13; but right now I’m moving towards a number of new projects, including regular Webcomics and a revival of Club
Yup, Club Com/Vamp is, as of June 2016, exactly ten years old! To celebrate, there will be two new strips; firstly, a reworking of an older strip, below—to be followed shortly by an all-new one! As ever, the (revised) script is by Liz B and the art is by Yours Truly…
The original version of this strip can be seen here—compare & contrast!!
This has been more or less done for a week, but needed to finish it up. And then, I had a disaster and the monster on last panel got severely water damaged—so I had to perform a last-minute repair job. Very annoying. But it came out okay I guess!
