So I take one of me usual hiatuses, and what happens? The world goes to hell! Oh well. Hence the question—back to what? Not smoking ruins. Not just yet, anyway.
Oh, I didn’t even post the third & fourth episodes of Birmingham Now, did I? Okay…
Episode three (February) can be view here, and episode four (March) can be viewed here. Needless to say, while we all struggle against the scourge of the Black Death, the show is on indefinite hiatus. We did shoot most of an April episode but it became largely redundant, and if/when it returns… it’s very likely we’ll take a different approach. Steve and I have talked about this a bit. But no point thinking about it for now.
I have been doing a few things, though, including a bit of portrait art. Which I need to get scanned. I’ll be back when I do.
As Vamporama Films starts to gear up for some new projects & activity, I wanted to revisit last year’s creepy short, Monsters.
The finished film is basically a monologue—performed brilliantly by Liam Woon!—but originally we were going to add some filmed inserts. Here we have my storyboards for some of those inserts.
Now we have an official poster for Monsters, designed by moi!
Out short film Monsters, starring Liam Woon, had its public premiere earlier today at the Grindhouse Planet Film Festival. Here’s a snap of the screening, plus Liam and Steve posing with organiser Marc Hamill…
As promised, the trailer for Monsters! And please note, you can view it as a direct link RIGHT HERE, which gives our videos more hits—and PLEASE subscribe to our channel and share the links! THANKS!
Stay tuned for info on future screenings, etc!
So… I’ve been playing with the footage for Monsters, and I’ve done some tests on the colour grading. The raw footage has a very flat colour profile, which allows filmmakers to push the images to suit the mood or preference more comfortably. Below are two graded frame grabs and finally a look at the raw (unmatted) footage for comparison.
(A trailer for the film is coming very soon!!)
Principal photograph for Monsters was completed last night (Sunday)! In a very cold warehouse in deepest Coventry, the six-hour shoot went really well… a couple of annoying technical problems were surmounted without any great drama. (Okay, maybe some drama!!)
Huge thanks to Liam Woon for his brilliant performance and going above & beyond to help us ensure it all worked out! More soon!! But in the meanwhile, as ever, here are some photos for you to peruse…
Now available for viewing: my edit of an extract from the Monsters rehearsal film, featuring Liam Woon as “The Man”. The proper shoot will be in Coventry on October 21st!
Yesterday, we had our rehearsal for the aforementioned Monsters short, with Liam Woon playing the role of “The Man”. The final run-through was filmed and I played around with the image & sound a little bit—a YouTube link to that will follow. The shooting proper will take place later this month. Meanwhile, here’s a couple of pics, plus a shot of Liam with Steve…
Monsters is a short film project we’re working on which is currently in pre-production. IMDb entry here!
We’re still looking to firm-up a location and I’m currently storyboarding a few key elements. See first two below. There should be positive news on this one real soon…
Returning after an extended Xmas/New Year break… this is the top panel of a comics page I was working on but which is currently, um, on hiatus. I’m busy with other things. Maybe I’ll finish it off eventually. Meanwhile, I think this image works pretty well as a standalone anyway… so there you go!
